Buffalo: The Queen City has a lot going on. From music to demolition derbies: here are my favorite things to do!

Article

1.) Chippewa

I went to Emerson High School on Chippewa St in Downtown Buffalo. Everyday I would pass by the numerous bars and restaurants on the strip wishing I had fake ID. I'm 24 now and can be found bar hopping in between emails.

2.) Junteenth

Every Summer, Buffalo has one of the largest African American pride festivals in the country! You always run into people you haven't seen in years, pick up some Shea Butter and watch local artists perform.

3.) Buffalo Erie County Library

For me, this started out as a good place to skip school. Now, you can catch me there almost everyday using the free Wi-Fi, networking, or, ironically, attending one of their free educational events.

4.) Erie County Fair

Starting in August around the time of my birthday we have the Erie County Fair. There are tons of rides, performers, great food and even a demolition derby. Oh how I love the sound of people crashing cars on purpose.

5.) Stylin' Tattoo

Hands down the best tattoo shop in the area. I had three tattoos done there. The best one is on my thigh. It's a black version of Betty Boop.

6.) Miss Buffalo

The first time I rode this boat I was in Kindergarten. I was terrified because I couldn't swim and had watched the movie "Jaws" a little too much. Now, as an adult, I love it! They offer boat rides all summer long and for a small fee you can indulge in as many wine and spirits as humanly possible.

7.) Canalside

The most exciting thing about downtown Buffalo is Canalside. They host events year round. This is fascinating because many other cities shut down outdoor entertainment when it gets chilly. Not us Buffalonians! We embrace the cold, skate on the ice and keep warm with hot cocoa.
8.) Rick James Concert
He was one of the few artists to escape the crab in a barrel mentality in Buffalo and make it big! Every year thousands of locals gather at LaSalle park for a free concert! All you see is grills, alcohols and my mother shaking a leg to "Super Freak".

I'm sure there are more things to do, but this pretty much covers my favorite things. What's your favorite thing to do in your hometown? Tell us in the comment section below. Thanks for reading!
