The Rochester City Council has selected County Legislator LaShay Harris to serve on the City Council as the South District Representative. County Legislator Harris will serve out the current term that expires at the end of the calendar year.

“I am thankful to those who sent in letters of interest, public service is a great honor and I was pleased to see people willing to serve. The Council reviewed and gave consideration to all the applicants, but we kept coming back to the experience that one person had both in the community and in public service.

I am pleased to announce that the Council has selected County Legislator LaShay Harris to serve on the Council as the South District Representative.

County Legislator Harris has served the South District as an elected official for 3 years, as well as the City as a member of the Board of Assessment and Review and the Nuisance Advisory Board, and through various community organizations. LaShay will be a welcome addition and I am confident in her ability to serve,” said Council President Loretta C. Scott.

"It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of the City’s Southwest Quadrant as a member of the Rochester City Council. I am grateful for the support of my constituents and the members of the City Council for selecting me to serve as the South District Representative,” said County Legislator LaShay Harris. “I am aware that with new horizons come new challenges and I look forward to working to resolve those challenges for the betterment of my constituents and the City as a whole.”
