Council Names Harris to Council and Announces Committee Changes

Today, April 30th, the Rochester City Council unanimously voted for LaShay D. Harris to serve on the City Council as the South District Representative. Councilmember Harris will serve out the remainder of the current term that expires at the end of the calendar year.

"It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to continue to serve the residents of the City’s Southwest Quadrant as a member of the Rochester City Council. I am grateful for the support of my colleagues on the Council and look forward to working with them on issues important to all Rochesterians,” said Councilmember Harris. “The South District is a unique and diverse section of our City and I am truly humbled to be given this opportunity and will work tirelessly on behalf of my constituents.”

The City Council President, Loretta C. Scott, also announced that Councilmember Mitch Gruber will serve as the Chair of the Parks and Public Works Committee and Councilmember Malik Evans will serve as the Chair of the Finance Committee.

Neighborhood and Business Development: M. Patterson (Chair), J. Ortiz, L. Harris

Parks and Public Works: M. Gruber (Chair), E. Spaull, M. Evans

Public Safety, Youth and Recreation: W. Lightfoot (Chair), J. Ortiz, M. Gruber, L. Harris

Arts and Culture: E. Spaull (Chair), M. Patterson, M. Clifford

The Council President Loretta C. Scott and Vice President Willie J. Lightfoot are ex-officio members of all Committees.
